--felt really sad for no reason
--napped
--spent approximately two hours playing space pinball
--burned my mouth on potato
--couldn't decide between finishing a pie but then not having it anymore or putting it back in the fridge and then not having it temporarily
--was almost reduced to tears by the above decision
--got kinda stood up by a couple of my friends

napping people are beautiful. I have gotten two consecutive perfect test scores in chemistry, and that is extremely fulfilling. I'm reading Freud and it's fascinating - I love thinking about empathy. perhaps I am too capable of it. vulnerability is beautiful. "everybody love everybody"

well, y'all, i'm off to Canada. what else is new? not to dismiss it, though, because i am looking forward to it, immensely. i think some of my relatives are dying and i will appreciate every moment i have with each of them this christmas. i haven't played the piano in so long but i am bringing a piano book of old broadway songs for the day that i visit my aunt, so i can play them for her, because i know she'll enjoy it and i want to make this visit with her as special as possible.
on another note, this is now going to serve as an outlet for my aside on how much i have loved this semester of school. everything has been perfect. i probably can't write anything i haven't already written. oh well, i'll say it again - i've made friends with EVERYONE and have taken steps backwards with none. i'm so much closer with the tape ( www.thetapeisnotsticky.com ! snow in los angeles http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2008/12/snow-in-los-ang.html ! ), the katzensteins, kate, and also with all my other friends, my relationships with whom have somehow greatly intensified just through osmosis, i suppose.
the last thing i'd like to say is how NICE everyone is! willie gave me a vinyl of the she & him album, and i'm going to hang it as soon as possible. c. dawes made me latkes, c. weiss made me some ginger holiday loaf, and jacob greenberg just gave a ride to aroma to my friends and me. kindness is catching! it makes me sad to hear about people whose lives aren't going super well... and then i used to feel some sort of guilt at being so happy when others weren't. i don't feel that guilt anymore, though, because i know that happiness spreads, so hopefully i am spreading happiness just by being happy. and as for doing really kind things, not expecting anything in return? i'm not really sure, but oakwood is really into it right now! you should be too. happy holidays.
my friends bought me a kitchenaid for christmas!
it's pink and it's beautiful and my family never would have been able to afford them. i'm so thankful!

i am so thankful that i've become close with kate holguin and jeremy katzenstein. i just love them both so much. i find kate to be incredibly sassy, witty, and we are always just on the same wavelength. we're kind of similar and i like that. i love spending time with her. she makes me laugh and she makes me happy. jeremy also makes me feel great, but in a different way. i often feel extreme guilt or regret for things that shouldn't make me feel so, but just his presence somehow gets rid of all that and makes me realize that i'm being silly. it's sad because he's the butt of everyone's jokes, but i sort of experience that through certain people so i've learned to feel great empathy for him and have vowed to do everything i can to make him feel better about himself, to pay him back for the leagues of self-confidence he's brought me.
i can't wait for christmas. i love giving gifts.
i had a free bake sale where i gave away three hundred and fifty seven baked goods and i think i brought happiness (although a fleeting, shallow one) to many people. and that made me happy. i can't wait to have another one.

i feel like i've entered the best period of my life as i've known it so far. i tried to adopt a happy attitude and i became happy. it's so nice to have a week of being happy at school punctuated by a weekend of just being with the people whose company i genuinely enjoy. i am just livin' life right now and i love it. wow, i'm being SO inarticulate right now. i've made so many friends the past couple weeks! <3 life |

i have finished reading every entry in my journal. i am slightly horrified, ashamed, and tickled all at the same time. the best singular entry i found was probably a bunch of ♥ and then "one for every day you've hurt me. oh, by the way [perhaps it was speaking of which], ♥." i don't even know, man.
then i started glancing at my friends' (in some cases, ex friends', funny how things change) journals, and this was kelsey's last:
I'm quitting LiveJournal because, frankly, it makes me angry. The only people who are still active are 8th graders and each of them posts at least 6,986,974 times a day, usually regarding subjects that make me ashamed to be a part of the human race. Despite all this, I'm going to keep this journal for memory's sake. Have a nice life, everyone.
